School History

"I am leaving among you two valuable things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it.  The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family."

Inspired by the above mentioned authentic saying "Hadith Al-Thaqalayn" of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Upon Him and His Household),

Al Zahraa Weekend School was founded in 1998 by Brother Hadi Kassim and Sr. Mona Kassim with the primary objectives of educating the youth of New Orleans about the Qur'an and the authentic teachings of the Prophet Muhammad and his beloved Household "Ahlul Bayt" (Peace and Blessings Upon Them).  The curriculum includes a specific focus on reading and comprehension of the Qur'an and Du'aas (Supplications) and propagating the core teachings of the Ithna 'Ashari (Twelver) School of Thought; Fundementals of Faith(Usool Al-Deen) Basics of Faith (Furoo Al-Deen) and Life of the Fourteen Infallibles.    This curriculum aims to produce graduates that are well-rounded and are able to use their knowledge to serve their respective communities.   Al Zahraa Weekend School is an independent non-profit organization that is operated by a team of dedicated community volunteers.
